A newbie’s guide to riding Foothill Transit to Glendora, Pomona, La Puente, Baldwin Park, DTLA and many other popular places
Welcome aboard! We're very happy to have new riders and show you how to get around the San Gabriel Valley while avoiding the hassles of traffic and parking.
Here's an easy guide on how to get started riding.
Plan Your Trip
It's easy to get transit directions online. To plan your trip, we recommend using Google Maps, Apple Maps, the Transit app, the Moovit app or visit foothilltransit.org.
We run bus service throughout the San Gabriel Valley, as well as local and commuter service to Downtown Los Angeles. We connect to many other transit agencies, including Metro, Pasadena Transit, Omnitrans, and OCTA. Our map is above.
Park & Rides
Parking, both paid and free, is available throughout our service area, especially at the starts of our commuter service. Here’s the list.
Pay your fare
It costs $1.75 regular fare for a one-way ride on our local buses. That includes a free transfer within two hours. The best way to pay your fare is with TAP. TAP cards can be purchased from vendors throughout our service area for $2 plus the cost of your fare. You can also download the TAP app and use your smartphone as a TAP card; info here. All our fare info is here, including the discounts we offer. Pro tip: it's $6 for a day of unlimited rides and $14 for 10 rides you can use whenever you want.
Security
Your safety is our top concern. If you need to report a security concern, call 800-RIDE-INFO (743-3463) or use the free Transit Watch app. In an emergency, ask your bus operator to call 911.
Metro, Metrolink, and more
Foothill Transit has transfer agreements with many of our neighboring transit partners. Your transfer might be free or have a small fee attached, and you might need to pay with TAP to get the transfer fare. See all the details here.
