Now, you can ride Foothill Transit by tapping your contactless debit or credit card or your mobile wallet in your smartphone or wearables when you ride.
The correct adult fare will be charged to your card and you’re ready to ride. A two-hour transfer will also automatically be applied to your card – make sure you tap with the same card each time you transfer within the two-hour period, or you will be charged a new fare. Note: physical cards and digital cards for the same account are considered separate cards by the TAP system.

Tap your contactless credit or debit card or your mobile wallet on the TAP validator – this is separate from the farebox that accepts cash. If you’re using a physical card, make sure to take it out of your wallet so the correct card is charged. If using a smartphone, unlock your phone and select the card you want to use in your phone’s digital wallet. The reader will confirm your payment and then you’re ready to ride.
You can also enable your smartphone for transit use by enabling Express Mode on iPhone or by enabling NFC and turning off verification for transit in Wallet settings on Android. Check your ride history on the TAP Status page.

Yes, you can use your contactless credit or debit card to pay for yourself and up to 4 additional riders.
No, you will need to use a standard TAP account for a 31-Day, 10-Trip, or Day Pass, or a reduced-fare TAP card for discounted fares. Customers who use a credit or debit card will be charged a full adult fare.
Yes, contactless payment is an additional way to pay fare. All other TAP payment options will still be accepted.
