MEET THUNDRA
Meet Thundra – Foothill Fransit’s newest safety team member.
We’re adding a new, furry member to our safety and security team! Thundra is an English Springer Spaniel trained to detect explosive materials and firearms. Her work will help us continue to keep our community safe.
You may see Thundra and her handler Martin working in Foothill Transit maintenance areas, Transit Centers, and on buses. They’ll also be present during special events like Rose Bowl shuttle service, FIFA World Cup, and LA 2028.
If you see the duo out in the system, do not pet or interact with Thundra – she is busy working! Feel free to chat with Martin if you have any questions about Thundra or our safety and security efforts.
Thundra was trained at the GardaWorld Federal Services Canine Training Center in Summit Point, WV. After her imprint training, when dogs are trained to the odors they will alert to, she was paired with Martin for a 4-week handler course. Martin and Thundra are a NAPWDA (North American Police Work Dog Association) certified team in explosives and firearms detection.
We’re happy to have them on board, putting safety first one paw at a time!
